Food Bank

The Salvation Army Community Food Bank is a member of The Food Banks British Columbia (FBBC) and affiliated member of the Canadian Association of Food Banks, and is the only authorized Food Bank in the Chilliwack area.

The Salvation Army Community Food Bank has been an active participant in Chilliwack for over 25 years.  The Food Bank use continues to be a vital need in our community for individuals who are unemployed or underemployed.  Over 3,800 people are being assisted through our Food Bank, Soup Kitchen and Shelter every month, 30% of those we assist are children under the age of 18 years.  Each of these needy families would have gone hungry without the generous support and kindness of our community.

Clients who wish to receive assistance need to make an appointment to see an Intake Worker, and also are required to bring in the following information:

  • Photo Identification
  • birth certificate
  • medical card
  • proof of source of income
  • rent confirmation

Donations to the Food Bank are gladly accepted at any time. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off directly at the Care & Share Centre (get directions) or at donation bins in any participating grocery store of Chilliwack.  These stores include: Superstore, Pricemart, Save-on-Foods, Coopers Market, Safeway and Marketplace IGA. Also check out BC Sharing coupons that come in $2 denominations and can be purchased at all of these local grocery stores.

Businesses and groups are also encouraged to run Food Drives of their own. We provide support and donation bins for your drive. Please contact us if you are interested in running your own Food Drive on behalf of the Chilliwack Community Food Bank. Hungry families will thank you.
