URGENT NEEDS FOR SELECTED FOOD ITEMS

The Salvation Army Chilliwack Community Food Bank urgently needs your help to stock our shelves. There is an immediate need for the following items:

Tin Lunches
Pasta Noodles
Cans of Tuna
Tomato Sauces and Pastes

Our current supply of these staple Food Hamper items has reached critical status. Please drop off donations at Safeway, Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart or Superstore; or bring your items to the Food Bank at 45746 Yale Road.

Put Hunger in the Penalty Box

The Salvation Army is pleased to announce our continuing partnership with the Chilliwack Bruins Hockey Club to collect food for the Salvation Army Chilliwack Community Food Bank. Our Kick off will begin starting November 26, 2010 at the home game against the Portland Winter Hawks and will be continuing through to January 29, 2011. Donors to the “Put Hunger in the Penalty Box” Food Drive will receive a free two-for-one voucher for a Bruins game. Vouchers may be redeemed for any home games throughout the duration of the campaign.

Food donations can be dropped-off at the following participating locations: Chilliwack Ford, Starbucks, Tourism Chilliwack, The Chilliwack Progress, Minuteman Press, Vision One Hour, Pro Auto Care and 89.5 FM The Hawk. Hockey fans may simply visit any of these businesses during regular office hours to make a donation to the Food Bank and receive their free two-for-one Bruins game voucher.

On January 29, 2011, the Chilliwack Bruins invite the community to the “Fill the Ford” pick-up truck full of food at their home game against the Kamloops Blazers which is a game which will be dedicated to The Salvation Army Community Food Bank. Game attendees may bring their food donations to Prospera Center the night of the game and receive their free two-for-one game voucher for an upcoming home game.

The Chilliwack Bruins Hockey Club and their “Put Hunger in the Penalty Box” business partnrs are commited to ensuring that no child goes hungry this Christmas Season.

Kids Games 2010

Kids Games 2010 was a huge success this summer! With over 90 children registered, 5 nights of sports, learning and fun, we superheroes had a blast! Check out the Kids Games photos here. Thanks for coming everyone and we will see you next year!

Kids Helping Kids: Backpack Program

This year at Kids Games we used our superhero efforts to complete our first mission. We collected school supplies to fill backpacks for children in the community of Chilliwack. We were able to pack 67 backpacks full of supplies! Thank you to everyone who donated and way to go superheroes!!!

Camp Sunrise 2010

Every year the Salvation Army Care & Share Centre has a goal to send 30 children to Holiday Camp at Camp Sunrise. This year we were able to send 33 campers for a week of bliss on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Thank you to everyone who donated to the Send-A-Kid to Camp Campaign fundraisers. Your donations helped us provide funding for these children to go! Altogether the Send-A-Kid to Camp Campaign raise over $2600.00. Watch for more pictures coming soon!
